Inter Town Basketball Championship Game
The Inter Town Basketball Tournament was a basketball tournament held during the duration of the Buglasan Festival. The particular match or game that I watched just happened to be the game between the Sibulan and Dumaguete basketball teams. This match was held on October 27 at the Macias Sports Complex. The match started at 7:00 PM. The sports complex was full of spectators due to it being a game between very close contenders, and so I, along with my sister, were only able to watch from the side entrances and not from the benches.
The match was a close tie between the two teams during the early stages of the match, but I had initial hopes that Sibulan would win against Dumaguete. I was proven wrong, however, when Dumaguete clutched from the second to last quarter and increased the score gap to more than 15-20 points. The players were all very determined to win for their team, and that same enthusiasm also spilled to their supporters. The complex was filled with cheers and screams all throughout the game. I also found myself cheering for both sides, not just one, during the game since it truly was clear how much each team was working hard to earn a spot towards the final games. In the end, Dumaguete won with a lead of 23 points, 57-80.
This game has opened my eyes to the reality that the experiences and the skill set of a player can truly turn the tide or increase gaps in any game, much like what happened with the Dumaguete and Sibulan teams. It is to that end that I also realized that the same can be said to any individual in any given circumstance. The skills that I learn can either bring me to greater heights or push me back. It is because of this realization that I have decided to truly enhance my skill sets so that I can grab onto any opportunity that comes my way, just like what the Dumaguete team players had done. It is my hope that I can learn more from the Dumaguete team, and so I might watch future matches that they compete in in the future. Watching sports matches or games like these can benefit people, especially basketball enthusiasts, since they can also learn techniques or tactics that the players use when playing. And so it is my hope that word about these kinds of tournaments will be spread more through social media in the future.
Because of this activity, I am now more aware of how much the skills an individual holds can affect the outcome of any circumstance or event.
