Bible Study

This bible study was held at a classmate’s house in Richwood Homes, Valencia, on the 17th of November. It was led by the Head Pastor of the Church of God in Yeshua HaMaschiach International, Sr. Pastor Rigel Lou N. Libo-on. I, along with some of my batchmates, were participants of this said bible study.
The bible study was interesting in that Pastor Rigel discussed with us verses about overcoming our burdens and passing them on to God. While I first expected that the pastor would only focus on the lesson of burden, he taught us so much more than that. He taught us how to be patient and why we must act kindly despite the turbulence our minds might be facing. He also preached about not letting our thoughts eat away at our minds and to instead find solace in God’s comfort and lay all of our mental burden on Him instead. Pastor Rigel’s words were incredibly impactful, especially to me since I easily overthink and have little patience when things do not go my way. I appreciated how the pastor gave every single one of us participants the time to reflect on ourselves, say what’s on our minds, and share our experiences. It made his lessons more meaningful. Because of the pastor’s teachings, I feel as if my values of patience and faith have been shed some new light.
Because of his teachings, I learned a new skill, or it would be best to call it a virtue instead. I learned the act of temperance. To have temperance is to have more self-restraint and to be able to reel in your thoughts and feelings during challenging times. Of course, this new virtue will be applied to my everyday life as I try to practice temperance, especially when my values will be tested. I’ve learned a lot from Pastor Rigel, and should I be given the chance to join one of his bible studies again, I’d gladly take the invitation, and I’ll maybe bring a friend next time as well so that they can also benefit from the activity. There is much to learn from Pastor Rigel, and if another study were to happen, the only thing I would change is the number of participants. It would always be better if more people were to come.
Because of this activity, I am now more self-aware and more reflective. My faith in God has also strengthened, and I can only have Pastor Rigel and my classmates to thank for it.
