Founder’s Week Lecture: Web Development: Latest Trends and Strategies

This lecture, ‘Web Development: Latest Trends and Strategies,” is one of the three main lectures that were featured during the Founder’s Week celebration of the College of Computer Studies. This lecture was held on August 19 at 2:00 PM at ATA Hall. This lecture was presented by Miller Solutions Development, Inc. but organized by CCS. I, along with the students of the college, were all participants of the lecture since it was a required activity.

I learned a new skill, and that was “trend adaptability.” I initially expected this lecture to only talk about new web trends in web development, but surprisingly, it also talked about important strategies that we, as future web programmers and developers, can apply and use in creating trendy interactive and responsive websites. The speaker was incredibly knowledgeable, and I learned a lot. Though the experience was constantly interrupted by my seatmate rambling with their friend and the noise of the entire room. There were just too many participants pressed into one room that it made even the slightest whisper magnify just because of how many were doing it all together. I still, however, tried my best to listen to the lecture to the best of my ability.

Because of this activity, I have learned so much in embracing responsive and interactive web pages wherein the user can also feel satisfaction during their use but also remains practical enough for the client’s needs. I can, of course, apply this learning to my course since I am a computer science major, and I do need to apply this to my future job as well. Participating in these kinds of lectures can help broaden my knowledge and the knowledge of others as well. But that is only one of the many benefits of lectures such as this. However, if I could do the event again, I’d do it with fewer people so that I am not distracted by their small talk drowning out the speaker’s voice.

Because of this activity, I am now more knowledgeable about the latest trends in web development and also the current and more available strategies that can be applied in creating web pages.
