#TulongKaSandigan: Barog Yellow Tops
On September 11 to September 18, 2024, Ang Sandigan, together with the Candau-ay Youth Organization, initiated a thoughtful donation drive initiative called “#TulongKaSandigan: Barog Yellow Tops." It aimed to collect material and monetary aid for the victims of the fire at Barangay Candau-ay, which broke out on September 9, 2024, at 8:00 am. As soon as I heard about the incident, I knew it was a calling for me to become a participant in the donation drive team.
At first, I contemplated if I had the right resources to take part in the said donation drive. Then I realized I do. I had the brain and heart to look for ways to impart my ways of charity. Because I had money to allocate for various causes, I managed to set some aside for emergency cases or for people in need. Through this, I learned financial responsibility. It touched me how my donations were warmly received and acknowledged by the organization. Generosity heals, and it gives back not just to the community but also my soul.
This experience made me realize that adversities may come our way, but it cannot take away the fact that we are blessed with good people all around us, and we could be part of these ‘good people’ when circumstances call. I dedicate myself to organizations with these causes, as I highly support humanitarian acts. I see the benefits of it in seeing my fellowmen thriving and continuing to live despite what they’ve been through. If I could do the project again, I wouldn't have done it in any other way, as it was an excellent opportunity and a well-organized event. Kudos to the team.
Because of this activity, I am fulfilled to have taken part in a donation drive for a cause. I looked back to God and thanked him for the strength and resources He has provided me to share with His people. I am happy that the families we have helped have slowly recovered with our combined individual and societal efforts.
