Founder’s Week: CCS Igniting Creativity

The CCS Founder’s Week also featured another activity wherein students were able to gather and socialize through games and classroom activities. This event was “Igniting Creativity,” held on the 20th of August from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Participants in this event were all interested students and even professors who wanted to unwind through fun activities. I also participated in this event where I played Scrabble and other activities with friends and strangers alike.

I did not learn a new skill, but I was able to practice socializing with people since most of the students who participated were strangers to me. I initially expected there to be only a few people joining in, but to my surprise, the room was full of people answering trivia and playing chess, board, and card games. Some professors were also there who joined along. Everyone was very focused on their activities, and that made me truly enjoy the experience as a whole. Because of the activity, I also made one new friend who I played Scrabble with until it was time to go. Overall, it was a very fun activity, and I was able to enjoy forming words, struggle with the very slow data connection of the CC classroom that we were in, and also laugh along and play through all the activities available.

Through this event, I learned that simple joys can be found in even the simplest games and activities. I also learned a lot of new knowledge because of the trivia questions and also a lot of new words because of the Scrabble game I played. The knowledge, fun, and experience that I gained through this event will surely carry over to my daily life as I find ways to make use of them. The friend that I had made during the event is also a committee member of the same committee I am under, so I am sure to meet him anytime. As for the other participants in that room, I’m sure we’ll be able to play again some other time in the future, in maybe another Igniting Creativity event. If the event does happen again in the future, I want there to be more people who attend so that we can all benefit from the fun activities available.

Because of this activity, I am looking forward to more future events like Igniting Creativity so that I can make more friends through board games, trivia, and card games.
